Using Earliest and Latest Dates

It is possible for users to restrict the dates for any item (artifact or asemblage). In the Seriations table it is possible to set the Earliest and Latest dates for items in the seriation. These settings provide implicit constraints on the dates for each individual item. However, it is also possible to set explicit constraints for each individual item.

In the Artifacts table (and the Assemblages table) it is possible to set the Earliest and Latest dates for each item individually. These dates cannot be outside the interval determined by the dates in the Seriations table.

Using Earliest and Latest dates for individual items may slow down the OptiPath algorithms noticeably - it is a much harder problem to solve.

In the Dates and Path graphs user set Earliest and Latest dates for an item will be reflected by a graphed horizontal blue bar for that item (or a blue circle if the Earliest date equals the Latest date).
