The toolbar provides some shortcut buttons for performing the most frequently accessed menu commands. The toolbar can be displayed or hidden from the View menu.
There are a number of buttons available:
Open File - this is the same as Open on the Files menu. See
Files for more detail.
Save File - this is the same as Save on the Files menu. See Files for more
detail.
Use Assemblages - this is the same as
Use
Assemblages on the
Artifacts and
Assemblages menus. This button is a toggle - when pressed it
changes to the Don't Use Assemblages button
. See Assemblages
for more detail on what it means to use assemblages.
Don't Use Assemblages - this is the same as
Don't Use Assemblages on the
Artifacts and
Assemblages menus. This button is a toggle - when pressed it
changes to the Use Assemblages button
. See Assemblages
and Artifacts for more detail on what it means not
to use assemblages.
Seriate - this is the same as
Seriate on the
Seriate menu. This button initiates the
calculation of a new seriation. See Seriate for more
detail.
Reverse Seriation - this is the same as the Reverse Order commands on the
Seriate and Results menus. This will reverse the order
of the current seriation, as seen in the Results table.
Seriation is an ordering technique, not a dating technique. OptiPath
is able to assign relative dates to the items being seriated; however,
this depends upon the dates you enter as the
Earliest and Latest dates for the
seriation. Even then, without
Earliest and Latest dates for each
artifact (assemblage), OptiPath is not able to orient the direction of the
relative dating - i.e. it does not know which end is earliest and which is
latest. The Reverse command allows you to reverse the order of the
current seriation.
