ANT 104: STYLE GUIDELINES
Three new archaeological sites/cultures will be posted to our World
Prehistory Project in each "phase" (Tuesdays and Fridays). Each one of these sites/cultures will be summarized by
two different students. All essays will be evaluated using the
following standardized system for STYLE for a possible total of 36 points:
- PUNCTUATION & SPELLING (12 points)
- A perfect score in this category will be awarded to any essay
that contains no spelling or punctuation errors. The essay has obviously
been proofread and edited to eliminate all typographical mistakes.
- ORGANIZATION (12 points)
- A perfect score in this category will be awarded to any essay
in which the author clearly organized her/his thoughts so that the
information flows logically. The essay is divided into paragraphs
appropriately.
- REFERENCES (12 points)
- A perfect score in this category will be awarded to an author who does an excellent job of citing high-quality references
when presenting facts and detailed information. Both in-line and
end-of-text references are formatted
appropriately.
- PLAGIARISM (assignment receives 0 points total)
- NO - The author has used her/his own words and formed her/his
own ideas. There are no signs of plagiarism.
- YES - The author has used someone else's words inappropriately.
This includes any quotations of more than just a couple words.
